Family portrait photographer, Kuala Lumpur
Capturing the warmth, the laughter, and the little moments that make your family yours — naturally and beautifully.
Your family, as they really are
Family portraits with Andy Lim are built around making your family feel relaxed first. The best shots come when the kids are laughing, the grandparents are comfortable, and everyone is at ease.
Whether you’re a family of three, a multi-generation clan gathering for a special occasion, or expats in KL wanting to capture this chapter of your life — Andy brings warmth, patience, and a decade of experience to every session.
What makes an Emotion in Pictures family session different
He works with your family to bring out their best
Andy has spent years mastering the art of getting reluctant teenagers to relax, keeping toddlers engaged, and making grandparents feel like the star of the show. No rushed poses. Just gentle guidance and a lot of patience.
Outdoors, or at your home
Sessions can take place at beautiful outdoor locations around Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya — parks and gardens — or at your own home for something more intimate and personal.
Photos delivered quickly
You won’t be waiting months for your gallery. Edited images are delivered digitally within a turnaround time of usually 3-5 working days, ready to print, share, or display.
Natural, timeless editing
Andy’s signature editing style uses beautiful light and warm tones to create images that feel natural and timeless — not over-filtered or artificially enhanced. These are photos you’ll still love in twenty years.
Popular family portrait locations in KL
Andy regularly photographs families at locations across Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya, Bangsar, Mont Kiara, and beyond. Favourite spots include:
- Perdana Botanical Garden (Lake Gardens) — lush heritage park, perfect for an unhurried session
- Putrajaya Botanical Gardens — sweeping greenery, ideal for larger groups
- Taman Saujana Hijau Putrajaya — rolling hills, extraordinary scenery
- KLCC Park — iconic KL backdrop, great for expat families
- Titiwangsa Lake Gardens — relaxed, natural setting right in KL city itself
- Your home — for something personal, warm, and uniquely yours
Not sure which location suits your family? Andy will help you choose based on your style, the age of your children, and if there are any mobility concerns, especially for the elderly.

Frequently asked questions
What should we wear for our family portrait session?
There’s no need for perfectly matching outfits. Coordinated colours work well — think tones from the same palette rather than identical shirts. Avoid very bright logos or patterns that draw the eye away from faces. Andy will share a style guide after you book.
How do you keep young children engaged during the shoot?
Andy has photographed families with babies, toddlers, and teenagers. He builds movement and play into the session so children stay natural and engaged — the best shots usually come from the in-between moments, not the posed ones.
How long does a typical session last?
Most family sessions run for 1 to 1.5 hours. This allows enough time to warm up, try a few different spots, and capture a variety of shots without anyone feeling rushed or tired.
Where do you cover? Can you come to us?
Andy is based in the Klang Valley and regularly covers Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya, Puchong, Bangsar, Mont Kiara, Damansara, and surrounding areas.
How soon will we receive our photos?
Your edited photos will be delivered via a download link, usually within about 3-5 working days.
What happens if it rains on our shoot day?
Andy monitors the weather closely and will reach out ahead of your session if conditions look uncertain. Sessions can be rescheduled at no extra charge for weather-related cancellations.
Can we include pets?
Pets are welcome at a few outdoor locations, like Desa Park City, PARC Subang Ria or your own home.
Do you offer indoor studio sessions?
Most of our family sessions are outdoors for natural light and variety of backdrops. Indoor home sessions can be requested.
